A downloadable project

(This is intended for students of CMI 3373 but the advice applies to anybody!)

An animated GIF image file  is a great, quick way to share a piece of whatever it is you're working on. You should aim for 5–10 seconds.

Whatever you choose doesn't have to be "good" or "finished" or "actually working" to be worth recording! It just has to exist.

Examples:

  • A circle that moves to the left
  • A background that changes color
  • A square you can hover over and it changes its size
  • A spaceship that shoots a missile
  • A cat that wags its tail

The goal is to show off something you've accomplished, even if you feel it's insignificant. Posting GIFs is a way of saying, "my work-in-progress is just as important as what I consider finished."

Works-in-progress also ensure you're thinking about what you're making before the day it needs to be submitted. So, even if you post it and then don't get back to the project for 48 hours, the ideas are up there in your head.
