A downloadable project

1. When your project is complete, you will need to export it in a web compatible format. In GB Studio, drop down the menu and choose Bulid & Run. Then, click Export Web.

This will compile your game into a package that includes both a rom of the game and code to play it on a web page. As your game grows in size, this process will take longer.

You can find these files in your Project folder where you'll notice a new folder called Build with the subfolder web inside of it.

Zip this web folder by right clicking it and choosing Compress.

2. Login to your Itch.io account and select "Upload new project" from the user menu.

This will create your game page.

3. Give your game a good title.

4. Make sure to set "Kind of Project" to "HTML"

5. Set Pricing to "No payments"

6. Click the bright pink Upload files button and select the .zip file you downloaded from the P5.js editor. Make sure to check the box "This file will be played in the browser"

7. Set the embed size to mimick a Game Boy screen. (I recommend 480px x 432px.)

8. Add additional details

  • You should then write a description
  • Make sure to credit any code or art you used!)
  • Pick the genre, and tag it (ex: game boy).
  • You can enable or disable comments if you want.
  •  Take a screenshot of your game and using the "Upload Cover Image" button near the top of the page.

9. Click "Save and View Page" to preview your work!

10. Lastly, and these next two are VERY IMPORTANT:

scroll to the top of your game page and find where it says DRAFT. Click the word DRAFT and then, on the next page, set Visibility & Access to PUBLIC.

(Then set to public)
